You just have to buy a domain, and read this post thoroughly, then follow the steps and apply and add custom domain.
So without wasting time, let's start with what is domain -
What is Domain?
Domain is the address of a web page, it is also called IP address.
Basically, the domain name is a component of a URL (uniform resource locator), it is used to access a particular website.
There are also levels of domain, such as Top-level, Second-level, and country-level etc.
For example, https://www.knowledgetech.com is a top level domain, as its extension is “.com”.
- The first part of the domain is ‘Http‘ or ‘https‘, its full form is “Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure”.
- Then www, its full name is “World Wide Web”.
- And ‘knowledge.tech‘ is a domain name.
- .com – Its full form is “dot commercial”, it is also called domain extension.
Now that you have understood the domain name, let’s understand the custom domain –
What is a Custom Domain?
Custom domain means registering your own domain, if you have a website or blog on blogger, then the domain you have right now is a subdomain of blogger.com.
If you buy a domain, you have to remove the blogger’s subdomain or by default domain and add your own domain.
This will make it easier for your visitor to access the website, and the url of your blog or website will be sorted and your blog will look professional.
If you do not know what type of domain to buy, then know the types of domain and also know why to buy a custom domain.
So let's now know from where to buy a domain -
Where to buy a domain for a blog?

After logging in, now click on “settings” from the dashboard of blogger.
Step 2: Setup Custom Domain
Click on “Custom domain” in Blogger Settings.
Now you will be asked for the domain name, here enter the domain name you have purchased with www and “Save”.
For example: www.knowledgeplus.tech
Now you will get the custom domain setup details, keep that page open as it is and in a new tab (new page) open GoDaddy or from where you have purchased the domain.
Step 3: Add DNS Record
If you have bought domain from Godaddy, then after logging in to GoDaddy account, your domain will show in my products, click on the option of “DNS” on its side.
After opening the DNS page of domain, now go back to blogger page and copy the CNAME details (what is after www, Destination: has to be copied).
Now in Godday’s DNS, first edit the CNAME, paste in the value (points to) of www: and save it.
There is another CNAME detail in Blogger page, copy what is after Name:.
Something like this: (6evsjdhfgzjt8v)
Now in GoDaddy domain DNS page, paste in Host in 2nd CMANE.
Go back to the blogger page and copy what is after Destination:
For example: (gv-6mwnpxjsdfdvmnh.dv.googlehosted.com)
Then paste the second CNAME of Domain DNS in Points to and save it.
If both CNAMEs have been successfully added, now refresh the page. After saving both DNS records, it will look something like this:
Go back to the blogger page and click on Save.
Step 4: HTTPS and Domain Redirect
Now enable Redirect domain from blogger Settings, enable both HTTPS availability and HTTPS redirect.
Done! By following these steps, the custom domain will be successfully added to your blog.
Now click on view blog and check whether it is opening or not. If it is not opening, wait for some time, it may take some time.
